How MemoriesExport handles your memories

Your Snapchat export is personal — photos, videos, and the GPS locations they were taken at. MemoriesExport is built to touch as little of that as possible and to hold on to it for as short a time as possible. Here is exactly what happens to your files, in plain terms.

Two ways to use it — one never uploads at all

MemoriesExport runs either online in your browser or as a fully offline Mac / Windows app. They produce the same corrected files, but they handle your data very differently, so it is worth knowing which one you are using.

The desktop app: nothing leaves your computer

The Mac and Windows app does all of its work offline, on your own machine. Your photos and videos are never uploaded — they are read, fixed, and written back to a zip entirely on your device. If you would rather your media never leave your computer at all, this is the option to choose. It is also the better fit for very large libraries.

The online version: minimal, private, and short-lived

When you use MemoriesExport in the browser, your files do go to the cloud so they can be processed. We designed that path to be as private and short-lived as we can make it:

Because we do not keep your files, coming back later to re-process means uploading the export again — a deliberate trade for a small footprint and strong data minimization. If we ever offer longer-term storage, it will only ever be an explicit, opt-in choice you make at download time — never the default.

Payments: we never see your card

Checkout is handled by Paddle, our payment provider and merchant of record. Your card details are entered on Paddle’s own secure overlay and go to Paddle, not to us — MemoriesExport never sees or stores your card number. On our side we keep only a transaction reference, not payment details.

Sign-in

Accounts are handled by Clerk. We verify your Clerk session on every request and use your verified account id to scope your jobs, so no one else can address your files.

Analytics

We keep only aggregate funnel counts to understand where people drop off. Those data points are keyed by a random job or transaction id — your account id and IP address are deliberately not logged.
